10:54 am: Where to Begin?
I've been telling people about the new house we've bought and its appalling, 1967 kitchen -- a tiny, galley, jammed into one corner of the huge den with its original, 1967 appliances in all their avacado green glory.

The cooktop and oven are so old that I've been afraid to turn them on. The house inspector said they worked, but they way the report was marked "Age 20+" in heavy ink with an underscore made us think that he'd have liked to have said they didn't.

Here are the other pictures. I don't know how anyone ever cooked a meal in here.

Hi,stone here.

I am a plumber, are you replacing the sink faucet to?
From the pic it looks like a Delta.
If you are replacing it, i would like to offer up some advice.
I would go w/ Moen, easy to work on. All single handle faucets use the same cartridge, where Deltas use a six to eight part repair kit.
Moen warranty can not be beat,Delta leaves a lot to be desired.
Trust me i have dealt w/ both.
hope this helps.

Thank you for the advice. Easy repair is always a good thing!

I am replacing the faucet and haven't picked a new one yet. I don't care a great deal about fashion but want one that has a good, high arch for filling and washing my stockpots.

We are also thankful that our kitchen in not as large as yours. We also chose the same cabnetry company as you. Hope you had a better customer expeiance than we did with Lowes.

I don't know if anything will change, but I've never had any significant issues with either Lowes or Home Depot.

The Lowes where I currently live is a little substandard, but there will be a Home Depot in before the start of summer so it will improve. Both chains are ALWAYS better when their competition sets up less than a mile down the road. ;)

Looks like we are doing the same stuff!

I was looking at your bio on 'zaar today and I tapped into this link. Boy, you guys are doing what we are! It's a huge undertaking. We did our kitchen last year...still not completely done. Next comes a bathroom, redesign of a spare room to an office, and a conversion of another room to a guest room. Lots of fun buying these older houses! Hope we can help you guys at least eating well. Hope to see you there soon.
